Summer Fete 2010

The 2010 Summer Fete had plenty of attractions on offer from bouncy castles, pony rides, face painting, games, candy floss, cream teas and even a football tournament.
The marvellous efforts of many of the school children, teachers and colleagues, all of the WSA committee, friends and partners ensured another hugely successful event.
The WSA are very grateful to all of the volunteers, to the parents who kindly donated gifts and prizes and to the trade stalls who supported our event.
Of course the day wouldn't have been complete without the visitors who came in large numbers throughout the day so we would like to say a very big "thank you" to everyone
and we look forward to seeing you next year!

| May Feast - Hotdog Day!! - Monday 3rd May
|

|
|
Another day, another outing for the WSA volunteers, raising money for the school once again, this time during the Whitchurch May Feast. Slaving away in the bright sunshine but freezing cold northerly wind the gallant ladies of the WSA committee served dozens of burgers and hotdogs for a very hungry crowd. From left to right, our grateful thanks to:
Catherine Rodnight, Janet Sampson, Lisa Howells, Sarah Howcutt, Zantie O'Connell and Karen Smethurst.
The WSA would also like to say a very big thank you to our 'master chefs' whose splendid efforts made this possible. They are:
Jeremy Sampson, Mark Hewitt and Andy South.
We hope to have more details later to follow up on this story.

| Sponsored Quiz Marking Session - Saturday 27th February
|

|
|
Clearly the fantastic turnout at the school on Saturday heralded another WSA success, this time to raise money for the school’s Outdoor Learning Area Project.
Dozens of children and their parents arrived at the school to have their Sponsored Quiz papers marked by a large team of teachers and LSAs.
The visitors were able to enjoy the large selection of refreshments provided by the WSA committee whilst the children were able to browse through the
literature on the book stall. Details about the sponsored quiz results will appear on the website in the next few weeks but for now,
the WSA would like to acknowledge its appreciation to all the volunteers who gave up their free time to ensure the success of this event. They are:
Markers: Mrs Coats, Miss McCabe, Mrs Shephard, Mrs Grace, Mrs Foote, Mrs Donegan, Mrs Hawkett, Miss Falconer and Miss Turner.
Serving the refreshments: Melanie Vallance, Liz Philpott, Karen Smethurst, Lisa Howells and Janet Sampson.
The WSA would also like to thank all the children and parents who participated, the fabulous cooks who made the delicious cakes for the refreshment stall and Mr Blore for manning the book stall.

| Santa Float 2009 Update!
|
|
|
News just out is that the 2009 Snata Float collection raised a fantasic £275!! Once again well done and a big thank you to all those involved.

| Santa Float 2009
|
|
|
On the 17th December, several volunteers braved a particularly cold evening to collect money for
the Winslow Rotary Club. As in previous years, the Santa Float owned by the Winslow Rotary Club
visited most areas of Whitchurch so that villagers, old and young could catch an early glimpse of
Father Christmas before the big night. To the sound of Christmas carols and festive songs, many kind
hearted residents opened their doors and gave generously to this year's collection.
|
| This year a massive £275 was
collected in the village by the Winslow Rotary Club and as before all the money will be donated to the Whitchurch
School Association. The Winslow School Association would like to offer its
enormous gratitude to the villagers of Whitchurch, the Winslow Rotary Club and the Santa Float collectors
who where Yvette Smith, Yolanda Donegan, Karen Hunt, Caroline Baker, Heidi Smith, Gareth Baker and Chris Smith.

| Christmas Fayre 2009

|
The Whitchurch School Association Committee would like to thank all parents for
their generosity in donating bottles, cakes, filled jars and unwanted Christmas
presents for the Christmas Fayre held on Saturday 5th December.
The WSA would also like to thank everyone who volunteered to help in
whatever capacity, to all the children who ran such marvelous stalls
(the marble maze was my favourite! Ed.) and to all the traders who took part,
all helping make the Christmas Fayre such a success.
The WSA have raised approximately £1400 all of which will be donated to the
school in due course to support the children's learning and school environment.

| Quiz Night 2009
|

|
|
The annual WSA quiz night was held on Friday 16th October.
The school hall was the venue for the illustrious gathering of parents,
teachers and friends of the school. Approximately 60 people formed
5 teams of great talent; however as the bar opened the talent seemed to
diminish, coincidence? Our fabulous quiz master was Matthew Smethurst
who kept us all in check with the help of his glamorous, yet no nonsense
assistant Janet Sampson. We had a break half way, where we dined on a
curry supper supplied by committee members and then the revelry continued
with renewed vim and vigour. As the night progressed, the volume rose
and the bar was decimated, we all enjoyed a great night. When the night
came to an end and the winning team, the teachers (we were robbed) basked
in their triumph, we tidied up knowing that we’d enjoyed a fabulous night
and raised money for the School Association. We raised £500 for the WSA.
