Summer Fete 2011

They said it would rain! But in fact the weather was glorious with warm sunshine for most of the afternoon despite the late arrival of lurking rain clouds which kept their distance.
As usual this year's Summer Fete had plenty of attractions on offer from bouncy castles to Pims & cream teas. The pony rides were very popular throughout the
afternoon and many children were sporting fantastic painted faces. Some of the school children really entered into the spirit of the event by running their
own stalls with plenty of chances to win great prizes! Local fire fighters volunteered their time by giving everyone a chance to ask questions and explore one of the appliances
from Aylesbury Fire Station. There was fun and games with water pistols, plate smashing and rat splatting!!

All in all it was another hugely successful day with tremendous support from the school children, teachers and colleagues, the WSA committee and their friends and partners.
The WSA would like to thank the parents who kindly donated gifts and prizes for the tom bola and to the trade stalls who supported our event.
Of course the day wouldn't have been complete without the visitors who came in large numbers throughout the afternoon so we would like to say a very big "thank you" to you all
and we look forward to seeing you next year!
The WSA would like to give special thanks to all the volunteers including Karen Smethurst, Frances Smethurst, Liz Philpott, Melanie Vallance, Karen Hewett, Lisa Howells, Janet Sampson,
Catherine Rodnight, Sarah Howcutt, Rebecca Lusby, Alison Parker, Amy Lincoln, Paula Wright, Jo Green, Sonia Blackman, Charlotte Blackman, Karen MaCritchie, Charlotte Lincoln,
Hannah Cockton, Ali Lovatt, Elaine Ghosh, Jane Clark, Pauline Hawkett, Lisa Tiddy, Claire Cooke, Carla Coletta, Matthew Smethurst, Jeremy Sampson
and
Mr Ridgeway
(please forgive me if I've omitted anybody! Ed)
The WSA are especially grateful to those parents not on the committee who gave up their afternoon to help run the Summer Fete. The WSA relies completely on volunteers to help with these events that raise funds
for school projects so we hope to see you and others again and perhaps even consider joining the committee so you can have a say how events are run.
