The WSA runs
a programme of events across the year. Some are fundraisers and
others are social events giving you a chance to get to know
other parents.
Winter Term
Brains
need to be in gear at the annual WSA Quiz to beat the
teacher’s team. A friendly quiz night open to all parents
and their friends in teams of six. WSA runs the bar and a
hot meal is included in the ticket price. A popular event,
so get hold of your tickets early.
How can I help?
Happy to cook a hot dish like lasagne, help set out tables
after school or clear up at the end of the evening, we’d
love to hear from you.
This
event usually runs on the first Saturday of December.
How can I help?
Happy to help set up after school on the Friday before or
the Saturday morning, run one of the school stalls or help
in the café or clear up. Let us know. A number of stalls
are available for a small rent, so if you or your friends
would like to sell crafts or other Christmas goodies please
contact us.
PS. Don’t’ forget to sell those raffle tickets!
An
enjoyable evening wandering the streets of Whitchurch and
Oving following the Rotary Club’s Father Christmas Float
and collecting donations house to house. All the money
raised comes to the school. Kids love it too.
How can I help?
Come along with your kids (over 5 years) to Oving or
Whitchurch start points and join the merry group. We have
plenty of collection boxes to go round!
Spring
Term
WSA in
collaboration with the teachers usually run a sponsored
event for children in this term. This has usually been a
quiz to take home and complete during the Easter holidays.
In 2006 the teachers has organized a sponsored obstacle
race.
How can I help?
Help your child to get as many sponsors as possible- all the
money goes to making Whitchurch School even better.
The WSA
likes to try out new events in the Spring term. These have
included a Family Games nights and an Auction of Promises.
Sometimes these events are fundraisers and sometimes purely
social.
How can I help?
Let us know if you have any ideas for new events or a
particular skill we could use for a specific event such as a
Mother’s Pamper Evening.
Summer
Term
The WSA
is usually asked to run BBQ stall at this annual event. On a
sunny days in previous years we have raised up to £600.
How can I help?
Come along to the Feast and buy a burger. If you fancy your
hand on the BBQ (especially all you dad’s out there) let
us know as we are always looking for volunteers to do one
hour shifts between 10am and 3.00pm on the day.
Our
biggest event of the year. Around 180 parents and their
friends join us for live music and good food in a marquee
pitched on the school playing fields. This year’s will be
the 9th one run by the WSA. The event continues to be very
popular so reserve your tickets early.
How can I help?
Put the date in your diary and come along with family and
friends, it’s really good value for money! Offers of help
with setting up or clearing away are always appreciated.
Small groups of parents organize the catering and decorating
the hall. If you would enjoy getting involved in either of
these activities contact us.
Lots of
fun on the school field with kids stalls, bouncy castle, BBQ
etc
How can I help?
Come along for the morning with your kids, run a stall and
remember to sell those raffle tickets.
A laid
back social evening for parents and children on the school
field. WSA sets up the BBQ and you bring the picnic. We
usually have an enormous game of rounders with the kids.
There is no charge for this event.
PS. Please make sure all children are accompanied by an
adult.
How can I help?
Come along and relax.
In addition
to the above events, we also hold three discos throughout the
year, these are specifically for the children only, and are held
around Halloween, Valentines Day and one towards the end of the
summer term.
Each month,
we also hold a Hotdog Friday, usually held on the 3rd or last
Friday of each month except August. This gives the children an
opportunity to enjoy a delicious hotdog or 'Vegdog'
